Roe v. Wade; truth versus the big lie – Loveland Reporter-Herald

Let’s protect life

Finally, a very good day for Americans in overturning the Supreme Court’s decision of Roe v. Wade. They didn’t ban abortions, they just referred this matter to the “people” in the various states to allow their legislators to make state laws. So do this. Make laws from state legislatures. Not from the court bench where “the people” have no voice to speak.

I fear that our Colorado legislators will use this decision to make Colorado a magnet for abortion factories, to lure poor and confused women from other states to our state, to exterminate their children. We should do better. Find ways to help young women who need help. Support Pregnancy Life Centers, where these young women can find ways to come to terms with the idea that they are mothers and that all human beings are created in the image of God. To help them love their children and hopefully find ways to encourage the father to accept responsibility for the new life they have helped create. Life is precious and rare. We should celebrate life, not death. Especially the extermination of babies, the weakest people in all of us.

Legalized abortion is the Dred Scott of our time. The Supreme Court just emancipated the unborn. God bless America, and may we bless the American Constitution for protecting the weak among us. And encourages the strongest to do better. To love, support and encourage our people to do more than they think they can, to protect life. Peace. Peace. Peace.

We’ve lost respect for the truth

One of the issues I lament today, and which is not often mentioned, is the widespread loss of respect for truth. It’s a simple thing: it’s the conclusion reached after reviewing the evidence. It’s not always easy to achieve, but when it is, there’s no excuse for not knowing and accepting the truth.

Former President Trump, 19 months after his defeat, still insists that he did indeed win. This is downright wrong! Of all
the things he might be, no one ever called him stupid: his insistence can only be a cynical ploy to stay in power (or avoid jail).

Social media has been a deliberate vehicle for messages from thousands of people, all patently false. But people believe them.
Many elected GOP officials are repeating Mr. Trump’s lie. The Texas GOP recently adopted a platform declaring that Mr. Biden is only interim president and that Mr. Trump actually won.

Rep. Louie Gohmert recently lamented that “you can’t even lie to Congress or lie to an FBI agent or they’ll come after you.” Good! Millions of Trump supporters, the so-called MAGA world, are duped by this outlandish lie. Anything to stay in power, even when you don’t win. This is the danger for democracy.

During his first year in office, Mr. Trump appointed a committee to investigate voter fraud. The committee dissolved after two years, having found nothing! I hope no one misses the irony of it all. I can only pin my hopes on rational, informed voters who don’t buy into this travesty. Hopefully there are enough around.
