In the midst of the New Year’s feast, with the King and Court and the noble ladies and knights gathered together, hear the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, in the original 14th century English while sipping a cup of mead or cider. Audience participation and reading of modern English translation expected. Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a late 14th century chivalrous romance. The author is unknown; the title was given centuries later. It is one of the best-known Arthurian stories, with its plot mixing two types of folk motifs: the beheading game and the exchange of winnings.
