Creative schools in Uzbekistan to host American Corners

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, November 30, 2021 – During the New Uzbekistan Education International Education Forum, US Ambassador Daniel Rosenblum and Director of the Agency for Presidential Educational Institutions (PIIMA) of Uzbekistan Hilola Umarova signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of education and hosting American corners in creative schools across Uzbekistan.

American Corners is a global network of more than 600 open access educational centers supported by the US government. These American Corners, located in more than 140 countries, serve to connect the world with the United States. Modeled after modern American libraries, American Corners receives millions of visitors each year. These technologically equipped spaces share American culture, information about American educational opportunities and offer free access to American English books, films and programs. In March 2021, the U.S. Embassy opened the American Corner in Qarshi (ACQ), located in the creative school named after Abdulla Oripov. In its first six months of operation, ACQ welcomed thousands of visitors interested in improving their English skills, learning about American culture, and using its free educational resources.

Overall, the United States Embassy and partners plan to open at least six new American Corners across Uzbekistan through the American Corners initiative implemented by the United States Educational Councils. international. This project represents an investment of more than $ 860,000 from the US government and months of close collaboration between local partner organizations.
