Sisi calls for efficient use of water resources nationwide – Politics – Egypt
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday ordered the government to continue working with all relevant bodies for the efficient use of nationally available resources, in accordance with the national canal lining project.
The president gave the guidelines during a meeting in Cairo with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, the ministers of irrigation and agriculture, and the head of the Engineering Authority of the armed forces, Major General Ihab El-Far.
El-Sisi was briefed on the joint efforts of the ministries for the collection and distribution of rainwater in rainy areas, especially in the Sinai Peninsula, along the northern coast of Egypt and the Red Sea, Presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady said in a statement on the meeting.
It also monitored ongoing efforts to rehabilitate and repair old wells in order to restore them to working order and improve their efficiency.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aati reviewed the progress of the hydrological and technical studies of the ministry necessary for the construction of dams and dikes for better water conservation. rain.
The meeting also discussed the state’s efforts to adopt modern irrigation systems, as well as a national seed project aimed at increasing the availability of high quality pest resistant seeds.
